SHOP TALKThis is an area where I'm going to show and tell some of my instruments, and in particular, the ones that are somewhat unusual and that generate a lot of curiosity. ...The Cort SteinbergerAlways an attention getter, and more recently, commonly mistaken for a "Guitar Hero" controller, my little red corvette of a guitar is just that. It's extremely light, very comfortable and easy to play, and it stays in tune extremely well, even considering the punishment I give it. It can sound hot, cool, and a lot of things in between. This is a very cherished member of my family of instruments.

....THE PORTA-STANG / KEYTAR PROJECTIf you've ever seen my act before, you know that I already sport a rather strange instrument in the red Steinberger "headless" design guitar. I also use to bring a keyboard out to the gigs until I just couldn't take being confined behind it anymore. So, here's my latest "Frankenstein" project. I've had this concept (and the guitar half) for a long time. I was looking for the right lightweight keyboard controller, and finally found a full 5 octave board with a light weight of 6.5 pounds, plus with some built in sounds to boot. The guitar is a Fender Mustang. If you can't believe I cut it up, that happened a long time ago, and it's actually got a very interesting history of it's own. I've been taking pictures of the thing in progress, and of course, it's not done yet. There's still some pick guards to cut out and wiring to be done. I plan on posting an even more in-depth look at the instrument when I'm done, as well as a look at some of my other instruments. Check out the Tiesco at the bottom of the page too.
